1959-1962 Survey

Called the Round Well of Sulṯānpur. Located approximately 3 km south-southwest from the southern edge of Mihrawlī village, about 250 m southeast from Sulṯānpur village. This is a round well with an outside diameter of 6.8 m, an inside diameter of 2.2 m, and even now has water about 5 m deep. There was an inscription embedded in the west interior wall with the year 661 A.H. (1262-63 A.D.), which is now preserved in the museum inside Red Fort.

2015-18 Survey

Numerous wells were dug in Sultanpur, and some are still in use today. However, W1 could not be found. According to the inscription, a mosque and well were built by Salih Mu’tamid in 1262-3. It is notable that there was a Muslim settlement in the 13th century outside Rai Pithora (the city walls of that time), 4.5km away from Qutb Mosque as the crow flies.
