Siri Fort (Mission for Indian History and Archaeology)Delhi , India
1959-62 Survey
Known as Sīrī Fort. Extends approximately 1.6 km eastward from the western edge of Shāhpur Jāṭ village.
This fort is mostly in ruins today, with gates and walls found here and there in their collapsed states. From these remains and the topography of the area, it is known that the walled city was large and nearly oval in shape, measuring approximately 1.9 km in the east-west direction and 1.2 km in the north-south. Sīrī is said to have been built by the Khaljī Dynasty Sulṯān, ‘Alā al-Dīn Muḥammad, and thus far there have been a few different theories as to its location. However, it is now generally accepted that this ruined city is what remains of Sīrī.

2015-18 Survey
Measures have been taken to preserve this structure. The area measuring 1.9km (east-west) by 1.2km (north-south) is bounded by Khel Gaon Marg on the west, Siri Fort Marg on the north, and Gamal Abdel Nasser Marg on the south. Josip Broz Tito Marg cuts across its eastern end. The moat remains, surrounding the city walls, with the east half comprising the Siri Fort Park green area, and the west half populated by the Siri Fort Sports Complex and the low-rise housing development of the Asian Games Village Complex. The old village of Shahpur Jat has grown larger due to a population surge and is seeing a revival with the textiles industry.
