Round Well to the Northeast of Lado Sarai (Mission for Indian History and Archaeology)
New Delhi, India

1959-62 Survey

Located approximately 500 m northeast of Lādo Sarā'i village. Grid ref. G-12

This well is currently covered in shrubbery and is hard to find, but its shape remains relatively intact. The outside is round, with a diameter of approximately 6 m, and the inside is an octagon with a diameter of 2.2 m. The well is just outside the south side of the wall surrounding a graveyard thought to belong to the middle Delhi Sultanate years. Since the well probably has some connection to the graveyard, it will be categorized in the same period. Period II (?)

2015-18 Survey

This has become a monument in a park on the grounds of a library. It has holes but is used as a park bench. In the 1959-62 photos, just the stonework of a round well, emerging from the ground as layers of rough stones, can be seen immediately south of the south wall of G8. It is different from the W1 to W7 wells in that its inner shaft is octagonal in shape.
