Maṣāḥif Ṣanʻāʾ/مصاحف صنعاء
Sheikha Hussa Sabah al-Salim al-Sabah is the director general of Dar al-Athar al-Islamiyya (DAI), having served in this position since DAI’s inception in 1983. Along with her husband, the former First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense of Kuwait, Sheikh Nasser Sabah al-Ahmad al-Sabah (d. 2020), Sheikha Hussa developed an internationally renowned art collection of more than 30,000 objects dating from the Bronze Age to the nineteenth century, all attributed to the geographic regions of the Islamic world. In addition to her role as director of the DAI, Sheikha Hussa is an active supporter of archaeological research and historic restoration in the Arab world.
