Elias Khuri

Israel

Based in Haifa, the studio of Elias Khuri focuses on architecture that intertwines cultural heritage, landscape identity, and social ethics. Drawing from the vernacular architecture of Palestinian villages – both present and lost – the practice engages deeply with place, memory, and continuity. The studio’s projects explore the emotional and intuitive dimensions of space, emphasising the relationship between the built environment, nature, and human values. A hallmark of this approach is House of the Twelve Olive Trees, which won first prize at the 2022 Arab Architects Awards. The project was recognised for its ethical commitment to preserving ancient olive trees and its architectural narrative of memory and presence.

Elias Khuri, born in I’billin, Galilee, graduated from the Politecnico di Milano in 2005. He has contributed to the architectural discourse both through built work and critical writing. He is the founder and editor of Tanas, an Arabic architectural blog, and has served on various architecture juries. His work has been featured in the journals Domus, Divisare, ArchDaily, and Arquitectura Viva, reflecting his role in shaping a contemporary architectural voice rooted in the Mediterranean and Arab cultural landscape.
