Jim Antoniou

Jim Antoniou, RIBA MRTPI FRSA, is a British architect and city planner with international experience in conservation and urban design, the rehabilitation of squatter areas, the construction sector and education facilities, working with international agencies such as The World Bank, and various UN agencies. He has been involved in historic Cairo for a number of years as consultant to the Egyptian Supreme Council of Antiquities for UNESCO. He was also commissioned by UNDP as senior advisor on the Rehabilitation of Historic Cairo Project (1997). He has lectured at various academic institutions in the USA, Europe and the Middle East. He is also the author of numerous books, including Environmental Management (McGraw-Hill 1971); Islamic Cities and Conversation (UNESCO Press 198I); Cities: Then and Now (Macmillan 1995); Historic Cairo (American University in Cairo Press I998). He has also written many articles, notably in the Architectural Review, the Royal Institute of Architects Journal and Building Design. As an illustrator and artist, his work has been exhibited widely, including at the Venice Biennale.
