Ünver Rüstem is a scholar of Islamic architecture, specializing in the art and architecture of the Ottoman Empire. His academic work includes a book-length study on a Baroque style in later Ottoman mosque architecture, a study of the annotations made to the Shahnama of Shah Tahmasp while in the Topkapi Library, and an article on the dome-closing ceremony of the Sultanahmet Mosque.
