Laila 'Ali Ibrahim

1917-2002
Laila 'Ali Ibrahim was a scholar of medieval Islamic Cairo. Born and raised in the city, she was exposed at a young age to foundational scholars in the field, such as K.A.C. Creswell and her own father, 'Ali Ibrahim. In addition to writing, teaching and lecturing on the monuments and history of Cairo, Laila 'Ali Ibrahim also worked tirelessly to promote awareness and safeguarding of Cairo's architectural heritage. She died in 2002.
