Archnet is currently offline for scheduled maintenance. Archnet is in the process of converting its 120,000 visual media objects to IIIF formats and moving its media to a IIIF-capable server.
IIIF stands for “International Image Interoperability Framework.” It’s a standard for hosting, serving, describing, sharing, and viewing images and other visual media, which has been widely adopted by libraries, archives, galleries, and museums to facilitate sharing of their collections.
This change to the infrastructure of the Archnet collection is a first step and will allow us to build exciting new features for the Archnet website, make it easier for cataloguers, partners and end users to add to the collection, and to use the media objects it contains.
