Speaking about Afghanistan means evoking the cultures and civilizations that have presided over its construction for thousands of years and the diverse peoples, traders or invaders, who have left their mark there, and it also means immersing oneself in the rich research carried out by the French Archaeological Delegation in Afghanistan (DAFA). Created in 1922, DAFA is an institution that plays an important role in this country at the crossroads of varied cultural influences, from prehistory to the present day. This book, which traces several thousands of years of history, is written in Dari because it is intended to be accessible to local students in human and social sciences as well as to anyone interested in the Afghan past.

The French title of the publication is: L’archéologie de l’Afghanistan de la Préhistoire au début de l’Islam
