In this document, Fathy discusses the effects of the Aswan dam and its water regulation on the villagers who lived nearby and who then migrated to the village of Kom Ombo in the 1930's. Fathy, discusses the economical hardships faced by the villagers during this time and the agricultural problems that arose due to the fluctuation of water levels due to the dam. Fathy's article is in praise of the traditional building techniques employed by the population of Aswan and Nubia in their new location, mostly done in the year after the government had displaced them from their homes.
