Located near the center of Cairo, the museum is on two floors and also contains the mausoleum of the artist. Both the lower and upper levels are for display purposes. The upper level includes the separate mausoleum. Museum circulation is mono-directional. The curved and planar interior walls are plastered. Freestanding columns are evident as structural members throughout. The museum makes use of a reinforced concrete structural system. Limestone and red brick are used for infill.
