Born September 29 1858 in Marseille, France, and educated at the Ecole des beaux-arts de Marseille, Marcel Dourgnon designed the Egyptian Museum. He entered politics in 1908, and became mayor of the IXe arrondissement de Paris. He died in 1911 at the age of 53.
