For Anna Heringer architecture is
a tool to improve lives. She established her international reputation as
architect in sustainable architecture with the METI School in Bangladesh, that
she designed for her graduation thesis and realized in 2006
together with Eike Roswag. Since then, Heringer has further developed her
award-winning approach based on the use of local materials and labor in several
projects in Asia, Africa, Europe and the US. Besides running her own office she
is currently conducting a design studio together with Martin Rauch at the ETH
Zurich. She recieved a number of honors like the Aga Khan Award for
Architecture, the Global Award for Sustainable Architecture, the Loeb Fellowship
at Harvard`s Graduate School of Design and an honorary Professorship of the UNESCO for Earthen
Architecture, Building Cultures and Sustainable Development. Her work is widely published and was
exhibited in the MoMA NY, London`s V&A Museum, at the Venice Biennale among
other places.
She was the recipient of the Aga Khan Award for Architecture in 2007 for the School in Rudrapur, Bangladesh.
