Nuno Duarte Flores

After graduating in architecture from the Faculty of Architecture of the University of Porto (FAUP), Portugal, Nuno Flores spent a year studying at the Faculty of Architecture and Urbanism of the

Federal University of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, before teaching as a monitor in the discipline of “Projects in Architecture”. As a specialist in international cooperation for Latin America and Africa, Flores also graduated from the Institute for Cooperation and Basic Habitability of the Technical School of Architecture in Madrid, Spain, where he earned a PhD in the vitality and sustainability of urban peripheries. Moreover, he is a member of the Intercultural Identities movement. After several years of work as an independent architect, developing different residential and urban projects, he now teaches at the University Institute of Art, Technology and Culture (M_EIA) in Mindelo, Cape Verde. Flores is currently a consultant at the Ministry of Environment and Climate Action of Portugal and at the Ministry of Infrastructure, Spatial Planning and Housing of Cape Verde. He coordinates the OUTROS BAIRROS / Other Neighborhoods Initiative, a pilot experience for urban rehabilitation of auto-constructed areas in Cape Verde, cherishing the way of life of the population.
