Between 1926 and 1960, Paul Collart and his wife Madeleine, compiled a series of 38 albums made with grey-blue card based on his travel in the Middle East and on specific work projects. The albums illustrate his interest in archaeology, history, nature, landscape and social life in the early 20th century.
The Egypt album is composed of three different parts and each representing a period of travel with landscapes and photographs of temples and significant sites. They testify to Paul Collart’s interest in people and social life. During his expeditions, Paul Collart was equipped with a photo camera and tripod. His wife Madeleine was charged with creating the albums and captions, outlined with Indian ink.
