Habitat and The Aga Khan Award for Architecture

Since its inception in 1977, habitat has been a major focus of the Aga Khan Award for Architecture (AKAA). To mark World Habitat Day on October 2, we have gathered a selection of related projects to have received or been shortlisted in the 15 completed cycles of the award. In addition to providing housing, these projects address issues relating to health and sanitation, urban growth, conservation of natural resources, innovative aesthetic and technical interventions, and the preservation of cultural heritage.
