The building was designed to accommodate a bank or similar office accommodation on the ground and mezzanine floor, and a single large luxury flat on each of the remaining floors. The design philosophy was to have a very strong surrounding frame which shifts through two vertical planes, within which linear lines of continous glazing and balcony terracing predominate. The external cladding is all in off-white tiling. Small arched windows and openings within the frame and in the gable walls contrast with the generally stream-lined image of the building and helps to give the building a local vernacular.
