Mohammad Mazhar Street 18
Cairo, Egypt
This three-storey residential building comprises four rectangular volumes slightly overhung with rounded edges. The facade is opened on circular interior balconies that provide an original feature. The horizontal shape of the building contrasts with the verticality of the rectangular overhang elements. The central part is supported by columns and is reminiscent of the architecture of Georges Parcq at Ismaïl Pasha in Garden City. The building has been designed with ornamental sobriety. Nevertheless, geometrical forms decorated the wrought-iron balustrades and Art Deco friezes frame the windows of the four “avant-corps”.
