Apartment 18
Ankara, Türkiye

This ten-story residential building containing nine different apartment units, a rooftop garden with swimming pool, a street-level garden, underground parking and shared spaces pays homage to the area’s vineyards, destroyed by densification in the 1970s. Ten varying floor plates are spirally wrapped into one continuous surface with a three-dimensional façade consisting of individually shaped aluminium panels. This façade treatment offers privacy with maximum light and views within each unit. The "vine" like texture emerges at the ground level functioning as a landscape element, creating a meditative garden, and moves up to finish at the roof garden. High-efficiency "Air to Water" heat pumps provide heating and cooling in apartments, including domestic hot water, a first in Turkey for this kind of building.
