Surrounded by woods, a rectangular two-storey block is nested in a metal envelope that opens up to the external landscape with a wide portico that defines the main entrance. A semi-transparent perimeter "shield" of a designed bronze mesh application flows around the building, protecting inner glass walls and an eight-metre corridor encircles three sides. The main building is flanked by a four-metre-wide reflection pool, and space is left as a semi-open shady circulation area. The mesh walls carry incised patterns inspired by trees surrounding the site, permitting controlled daylight to diffuse into the central space. Designed as a forum for world leaders, it is simple but functional and expresses clarity and sincerity.
