Beirut, Lebanon

A museum with a permanent gallery and temporary exhibition spaces, with research and documentation spaces and a cultural centre, this complex covers an area of approximately 6,900 square metres and is composed of the restored original structure and a newly added building. Dedicated to the history and memory of Beirut, the complex also includes a research library and archival section, two auditoriums, and a cafeteria, a restaurant and a shop. The original structure was preserved using traditional techniques as far as possible, and the addition is a contemporary concrete and metal structure.
