Azadi Innovation Factory
Tehran, Iran

An abandoned 1950s electrode factory was renovated to form a central hub for start-up companies, providing some 4,200 square metres of office space as well as communal work areas including a conference hall and meeting rooms, and a gymnasium, amphitheatre, prayer hall, restaurants, etc. The architects undertook planning and landscaping of the site, design and renovation of the interior and exterior spaces, and the introduction of a sculpture atop the existing tower - the sculpture is made of metal pipes, some that emit light to represent the earlier electrode factory and others in the form of rockets to represent the take-off energy of new start-up enterprises.
