This office building for about eight people is in a residential neighbourhood away from the city centre. It is surrounded by traditional Javanese houses and was designed, in close collaboration with the client, to blend in with its context both in its scale and through the juxtaposition of traditional (bricks and woodwork) and contemporary materials (concrete, metal and glass) used. The building is shaped like a box, following the previous structure on this site, and divided into public and semi-private functions on the ground floor, separated by a courtyard open to the sky, and private spaces on the first. Entrance to the building is via a small wooden bridge and an atrium.
