Kenarood Residential Building
Tehran, Iran

In the affluent Darakeh neighbourhood of Tehran, a 9-storey building contains eighteen apartments and connects to an adjacent 6-floor apartment building by the same architect. The designs of apartments on odd- and even-numbered floors are different, and each is provided with an interior double-height courtyard; the three-storey courtyards visible on the façade are landscaped; and three underground levels provide for parking and a swimming pool. The steel-frame and concrete-slab structure is clad with local brick or with concrete panels; the apartment interiors make abundant use of white marble, with contrasting panels of laid timber laid in basketweave patterns.
