Burj al Askar is comprised of three defensive watchtowers elevated north of the town of Taqah. It served as a residence for the guards or soldiers of the governor (wali) who was in residence at the nearby Taqah Castle. It was built in the mid-19th century of sandstone and wood and renovated in 2008.
