Bayt MughubMuscat, Oman
Bayt Mughub, or Bayt al-Zawawi, was constructed between the 1870s and 1885 and was located in the al-Waljat Quarter of Old Muscat by the al-Zawawi family. It was built into a rock face and likely incorporated pre-existing buildings into its construction. It was an additional property of the United States Consulate from 1906-1913. It served as the Indian Consulate from the 1950s until 1961, becoming the United States Embassy from 1972 -1989. It was vacant until 2004, when, along with the rest of the al-Waljat Quarter, it was completely demolished.
