Sharjah International Airport
Sharjah, United Arab Emirates

The building is a four domed structure containing the main concourse and arrival, departure, and VIP facilities. The airport is designed to accommodate 400-500 passengers per hour and is capable of receiving two jets and three smaller crafts simultaneously. Four domes of different sizes house separate functions. Intermediate structures join the domes to each other and the runways. The control tower is treated as a minaret to complete the composition. Reinforced concrete is the complex's main structure. The domes are steel lattice structures clad in glass-reinforced plastic panels. The reinforced concrete arches are infilled with blue, glazed-ceramic sun screens.
