Located in the center of Basrah, the hotel's design concept draws upon traditional khan buildings for inspiration. The five-storey building incorporates two principle courts around which all of the guest rooms and public facilities are located. The architecture attempts to blend Islamic and Mesopotamian influences with landscape elements and water. The structure is of reinforced concrete construction. Arched beams, which support the floors, span directly between the load-bearing exterior and courtyard walls.
