Quek Residence
Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia
A private residence constructed out of timber. The house is two-storeys, raised on stilts, and organised along a north-south axis providing cross-ventilation. The interior plan is derived from the traditional use of space in Malaysian rural villages. Thus the living room becomes the central focus of the house with all other spaces extending from it in a X-shape plan. Outdoor terraces occupy three sides of the house. Large overanging eaves provide shade and shelter from sun and rain.
