Al-Aouda Housing

Laâyoune, Western Sahara

An ongoing social housing programme located in the expanding south-east of the city. The project involves 1'450 basic housing units designed on a 12 x 7.5 metre module to which additions can be made to create an upper floor. Walls are built with concrete frames with block infill, and slabs are made of concrete beams with clay infill. The programme includes schools, a mosque, and other community facilities.
