Shrochito Shebuty
Dhaka, Bangladesh

The building improvises themes of traditional Bengali domestic architecture. It is organised around two axes - one horizontal, the other vertical - that serve as a connective link between an "inner house' and an 'outer house'. The structure has been designed as a passive climate modifier, with cavity walls, hollow roof tiles and a stair hall that doubles as a hot-air exhaust shaft. Materials are primarily brick and wood, left exposed to express their intrinsic organic quality.
