This house for an injured war veteran is on a tight urban site in an ancient district of Isfahan. Focus is given to the south facade to draw light and views of greenery into the building and to respect the urban language of the narrow street. Traditional brickwork faces the concrete structure and, as parking for two cars was a necessity, window boxes and borrowed views of the neighbour’s trees act as the garden. Internally the plan divides into a self-contained ground floor unit and three bedroom duplex above, which is organised in section to maximise the fluidity of space.
