This complex reacts to the proliferation of prominent tourist developments in Çesme. It is massed alongside the road with a compact configuration made possible by a linear internal street that has a minimal impact on the beach. The five storeys step back to form three landscaped terraces, effectively hiding the building behind a natural screen. This strategy also supports the environmental design, which incorporates natural ventilation, solar shading and high insulation levels. Local sustainable materials include Thermowood, which further defines the building’s natural character. Internally, spaces are simple and flexible as circulation and mechanical servicing shafts are kept to the outside.
