Rejecting the glass and aluminium boxes typical of IT parks as environmentally inappropriate, the bold sculptural forms of this project are intended to symbolise the hope generated by West Bengal’s resurgence as a centre for IT. The buildings - including a Learning Centre, guest house and three Software Development Blocks - are arranged around two landscaped courtyards joined to create an uninterrupted pedestrian zone. This visual and physical connectedness encourages social interaction, as do a cafeteria and recreation centre at the heart of the campus and an outdoor amphitheatre. Passive energy-saving measures are integral to the design.
