The Torch Doha

The Khalifa Sports City, situated in the Al Waab district of Doha, contains several sporting venues constructed in preparation for the 2006 Asian Games. It also features in the 2022 FIFA World Cup bid submitted by the Qatar Football Association. With the Aspire Tower, the complex is an important landmark 8 km from Doha’s CBD, and it aims to become an international destination for sport, entertainment, leisure, health, sports medicine and science. It houses an international sports stadium, an aquatic centre, medical facilities, education services, a sports academy, a mosque, a sports club, retail areas, parklands and a large public plaza.
