This eco-masterplan for a middle-class suburb accommodates luxury villas, low- and high-rise condominiums, retail hub, urban centre, infrastructure and open space. It involves four colour-coded strands of thinking. The ‘green’ eco-infrastructure concerns open spaces which occupy 18% of the site, weaving across bridges and through tunnels to maximise connectivity and biodiversity. The ‘red’ eco-infrastructure concerns the human community, who enjoy enhanced access to green areas, buildings in harmony with Vashtu Shastra principles, and an average 7 minutes’ walk from residences to amenities. The ‘grey’ eco-infrastructure involves clean technologies such as low-energy/passive building designs. The ‘blue’ eco-infrastructure is the sustainable water management system.
