This community homestead garden next to the lake in the Korail basti slums of Dhaka was planted with native species, from wild herbs and shrubs, to flowers, fruit and vegetables. A floating garden with water hyacinth and herbaceous plants was also created, and a bamboo platform constructed on the lake that served as a play area and small library for use by neighbours, residents of the area and their children. In the widespread slum evictions of February, 2012, the platform was destroyed. It was reconstructed, albeit reduced in size, a few months later.
