Mini House
Bandung, Indonesia

The client wanted the house to be open, to enjoy the views. It also needed to be airy, but resistant to horizontal rain, to suit the tropical humid monsoon climate. Based on Dutch-era (17th- to 19th-century) plantation houses, it is mainly single storey, with a two-storey service and garage block and a large covered terrace. A standard construction method of concrete beam and column with brick and some lightweight walling was used. The exterior has a textured, cement-coloured paint finish, interiors are white, and floors are of terracotta-coloured tiles. The metal roof is unusual for Indonesia, but the client accepted it for its lightweight feeling and ease of installation.
