Göksu Office
Istanbul, Türkiye

The brief for this office building located on the bank of the Goksu River asked the architect to to combine a traditional wooden building with preservation restrictions and a dilapidated concrete building into one office-building, and in the process, create an original architectural language. The solution is a building that responds to the exterior appearance of the traditional building and the structure of the other. Consisting of two-storeys, the new structure extends across and beyond the existing buildings in the form of a balcony to create courtyards on either side of the existing buildings. on the river-facing façade. Horizontal wooden slats clad the new structure and serve as louvres for the courtyards.
