With evidence of human habitation as early as the 6th millennium BC, Antakya is a city with an enormously rich history. Today it is the capital of the Hatay Province of Turkey, with approximately 400,000 inhabitants.1
It was severely impacted by the earthquakes that shook parts of Turkey and Syria on 6 February, as well as the aftershocks that hit in the following weeks.
On 20 February, the epicenter of a 6.3 earthquake was centered in the Hatay Province.
