Contemporary social housing based on ancient techniques. The aim was to create a new town that evoked the image of the fortress of Beni Isguen, but was comfortable to live in (light inside yet intimate, warm in the winter yet relatively cool in the summer), with all necessary modern conveniences. Materials are 80 per cent local (stone, lime, plaster and wadi sand), 20 per cent cement and cement derivatives.
