Among the heritage sites identified for reconstruction following the floods that devastated Hadramut were the Ba Wazir Mosque, and seven domed tombs honouring saints and Sufis in the Sah and Siqat al-Sadah cemeteries. The Mosque was originally the home of ‘Umar Ba Wazir when he first settled there circa 1306 and contains several tombs of devotees. The reconstruction work for the Mosque consisted of embedding stone pillars in mud brick walls, replacing damaged rafters and beams and shoring up vaults. In addition to reinforcement, surfaces were renewed with rendering and plaster. Similar treatments were applied to the saints tombs and several reconstructed domes. A new arcade was constructed for the Mosque.
