Landhi New Town
Landhi, Pakistan

In 1953, Michel Écochard undertook a mission on behalf of the United Nations to report on the question of refugees in Karachi. This was followed by planning studies on Landhi Satellite Town, about 25 kilometers from the city center, working within the larger Greater Karachi Resettlement Plan of the Greek planner, Doxiadis. The design developed from the concept of a series of satellites to a single more centralized design and draws from Écochard's recent experiences in Morocco. The project was later abandoned.
