In 1953 Michel Écochard undertook a mission
on behalf of the United Nations to report on the question of refugees in
Karachi. This was followed by planning studies on Landhi Satellite Town, about
25 kilometers from the city center, working within the larger Greater Karachi Resettlement
Plan of the Greek planner, Doxiadis. This small album focuses on the existing living
conditions of refugees in Karachi and proposes solutions largely based on
Écochard’s recent experience in Morocco.
